How to choose a web development company in Karachi or Islamabad

Searches for a web developer in Karachi run at about 480 a month, and "web development company in Islamabad" at about 390, according to Google's keyword data for August and September 2026. Plenty of people are buying websites. Not all of them end up with one that works a year later. Here is what to check before you pay.

Start with ownership

Before design, before price, ask one thing: will the domain, the hosting and every login be in my name? Many businesses discover, years later, that their website is registered to a developer they can no longer reach. If a company will not put your accounts in your name, nothing else they offer matters.

WordPress or a custom build?

For most business websites — a few pages about your services, a contact form and a WhatsApp button — WordPress is the sensible choice. It is cheaper to build, and you can update it yourself. A custom build in Next.js or Laravel makes sense when you need logins, bookings, dashboards or an admin panel: things a theme cannot do well. Be careful of a company that recommends the expensive option without asking what the site has to do.

The costs that come after launch

• Hosting, paid monthly or yearly
• Paid plugins or themes that renew
• Changes and fixes after the support period ends
• Content — someone has to write the text and take the photos

None of these are a problem if you know about them. Ask for them in writing at the start, so the cheapest quote does not quietly become the most expensive website.

Does the company need to be in your city?

Less than it used to. Most website projects now run over WhatsApp, video calls and a live preview link, wherever the developer is. What matters is how clearly they communicate and whether your accounts are in your name. If you would like to meet in person at the start, ask whether that is possible — from Abbottabad, Islamabad is about two hours away; Karachi is not practical.
