Laravel vs WordPress — which should Pakistani developers learn first in 2026

Pakistani job market chooses one. International freelance market chooses the other. Here is the honest breakdown of which to learn first depending on your goal.

Laravel vs WordPress — which should Pakistani developers learn first in 2026

Every week at our academy, a new student asks the same question: Laravel ya WordPress, kaunsa pehle seekhun? Both are huge in Pakistan. Both pay well. But they suit different people and different goals. This is the honest answer.

The TL;DR

  • If you want quick income in 4–8 weeks → start with WordPress
  • If you want a long-term high-ceiling career → start with Laravel
  • If you have 6+ months and serious commitment → learn WordPress first (1 month), then Laravel (4–5 months)

The case for WordPress first

WordPress powers 43% of the internet. In Pakistan, almost every local business — shops, restaurants, schools, real estate offices — eventually needs a WordPress site. The barrier to building one is very low: no coding required (with Elementor), and the first website can be live within a week of starting to learn.

On Fiverr, Pakistani WordPress freelancers can earn $50–500 per project. On Upwork, $15–35 per hour is realistic within 90 days of starting. It's the fastest path from zero to your first international client.

The case for Laravel first

Laravel is what serious Pakistani agencies, SaaS startups, and international companies actually use to build real software. The Pakistani job market for Laravel developers starts at Rs 80,000–150,000/month for juniors and quickly reaches Rs 200,000–400,000/month for seniors. On Upwork, Pakistani Laravel developers regularly charge $25–60/hour.

But Laravel has a longer learning curve. Realistic timeline: 4–5 months of disciplined daily practice to be job-ready. PHP fundamentals, OOP, MVC, Eloquent ORM, MySQL, REST APIs, authentication — there is a lot to learn properly.

What you can actually earn

  • WordPress freelancer (Fiverr/Upwork): Rs 50,000–150,000/month within 6 months
  • WordPress local agency job: Rs 35,000–80,000/month
  • Laravel junior developer (Pakistani agency): Rs 80,000–150,000/month
  • Laravel senior developer (Pakistani product company): Rs 250,000–400,000/month
  • Laravel international freelancer on Upwork: $1,500–4,000 USD/month
  • Laravel remote employee for international company: $2,000–6,000 USD/month

Our recommendation

If you are starting from zero and want both speed AND a long career: do the FREE WordPress course first (1 month), build 2–3 paid client sites for Rs 15,000–30,000 each to fund your studies, then move into Laravel for the next 4–5 months. By month 7 you will have both quick-income skills AND a high-ceiling career skill.
