The case for WordPress first
WordPress powers 43% of the internet. In Pakistan, almost every local business — shops, restaurants, schools, real estate offices — eventually needs a WordPress site. The barrier to building one is very low: no coding required (with Elementor), and the first website can be live within a week of starting to learn.
WordPress projects are one of the most common jobs on Fiverr and Upwork, and the barrier to taking on your first one is low. It's the fastest path from zero to your first international client.
The case for Laravel first
Laravel is what serious Pakistani agencies, SaaS startups, and international companies actually use to build real software. Pakistani software houses hire Laravel developers steadily, and pay grows quickly with experience — a senior developer earns far more than a junior.
But Laravel has a longer learning curve. Realistic timeline: 4–5 months of disciplined daily practice to be job-ready. PHP fundamentals, OOP, MVC, Eloquent ORM, MySQL, REST APIs, authentication — there is a lot to learn properly.
How the earning differs
